Donations from individuals or local businesses for our Strides Autism Program are greatly needed!
Families with children who have special needs are often experiencing financial stress. Therefore, it is our desire to provide these programs for these families free of charge or at a reduced rate depending on current donations. Funds through donations and/or grants are used for the general operating costs of One Acre Farm, providing Strides Autism Programs, purchase and maintenance of equipment, supplies, curriculum, training and other operating expenses.
One Acre Farm/Strides is certified through The Horse Boy Foundation as "1 Star Apprentices and Mentors" of The Horse Boy Method and The Movement Method. From life skills to academics, Movement Method, how the brain wants to learn, is a science backed approach for traditional schools, homeschools, higher education alike that show how movement helps build the brain, learn and break free.
- We provide a "yes environment" which is a safe, positive place that encourages personal growth, exploration, independence, and discovery with the freedom of taking reasonable risks.
- Our sessions are child-led, with a focus on educational, social, or therapeutic goals which we integrate into a child's interests.
- All our sessions are outdoors and utilize the natural, peaceful, and therapeutic elements of nature and animals.
- We use movement and interactions with the animals to promote neurological benefits that promote happiness and communiation. We will discuss the scientifically proven methods and specific neurological benefits in more detail during our first session with each family.

What to Expect
After completing the application, Catherine, or other Horse Boy trained staff, will review all the information and begin the process of formulating an IEP (Individualized Education Plan) if requested.
The first session will consist of walking around the farm with parent and child or even with both parents and all siblings. While walking around, a review of the application and the parent’s goals will be discussed.
Based on the discussions and agreements as to how to move forward, the next session will be scheduled for the following week. During that time, the facilitator will prepare lesson plans and acquire any necessary supplies for the next session time.
This will repeat for each weekly session. The goals can change with each session based on the child’s needs and the parent’s goals.
The cost of the 8 weekly sessions is $400-$1000 depending on type of services provided.
- $50/hr for private session.
- $75/hr for private session, IEP (individualized educational plan) and progress report.
-$125/hr for private session utilizing a horse for riding.
It is always the desire of One Acre Farm Educational Foundation to offer these sessions free of charge. Donations and scholarships are always being sought out. A prospective family can choose to pay the amount out of pocket, find a donor of their own, like a family member or friend, or wait for a scholarship to be funded.
The TEA (Texas Education Agency) has available funding through its SSES (Supplemental Special Education Services). One Acre Farm is an approved vendor and families may use those funds to directly pay for sessions. The link is:
