Storytime at the Farm
The span of childhood is relatively short in comparison to the entirety of life. Yet, the majority of brain development and foundational skills are formed in the early years of childhood. At One Acre Farm, we believe young children thrive being outside with nature, running, playing, exploring, experimenting and getting dirty in a ‘yes’ environment. More specific learning in academics can easily be integrated into all these activities.
Storytime can be an important part of this learning and fun for children of all ages. During reading aloud, there is so much going on, like hearing and seeing sounds, hearing and seeing the rhythm of speech, and learning words and language. It stimulates imagination and abstract thinking while also helping to make sense of the world which assists in emotional development. During storytime at One Acre Farm, you and your child(ren) will enjoy listening to stories in the outdoor classroom in the fresh air. After storytime, you can walk around and visit the animal pens. You’re welcome to bring sliced carrots and sliced celery to feed the animals. |
